What to expect from Ambon?
Ambon is a relatively new destination for tourism, Maluku Divers’ always make sure to inform divers that Ambon is not a 5 star destination. Maluku Divers work hard to provide the best possible service, however Ambon is a little rustic and does have it's idiosyncrasies. This rustic nature gives Ambon and the dive experience a unique charm visiting the 'real' Indonesia'. But it is important that divers are aware of what to expect when they join for some great diving.
Please don’t visit Ambon expecting a Bali 5 Star package, but for a unique and adventurous dive experience in an intriguing environment, away from the crowds both topside and beneath the surface .
Getting There; Domestic Flight Services
Maluku Divers offer the rare chance to explore a remote dive destination with convenient logistical arrangements and good flight connections. Four separate airlines operate daily flights to Ambon, with regular schedules through Makassar from Bali, Jakarta, Sorong and Manado. No overnights are required on the routes. Booking these flights is not possible on line from outside of Indonesia, and so, in order to assist divers, Maluku Divers can make arrangements with all necessary domestic connections and hotel requirements pre and post trip.
The Maluku Divers Meet and Greet team will be present upon arrival in Ambon, and will assist with collecting luggage and providing transfers to the resort.
Tours and Top side exploration
Ambon is a very historically interesting region, and Maluku Divers actively encourages divers to tour the island, particularly during the pre flight surface interval. Please discuss possible tours of the Museum, Fort Amsterdam, and the Sacred Eels at Waii. Such a unique and interesting island has some excellent topside natural, scenic photographic opportunities, along with great social interaction in the local villages and communities.
